I could feel the heat and almost smell the smoke ...like my brush was on fire. This painting began as a non-objective abstract work but evolved into a semi-abstract piece as the subject of fire revealed itself to me (Sometimes a painting tells you what it wants to be).The elemental power of fire is terrifying when burning with uncontrolled fury. The California wildfires have resulted in over 253,000 acres of burned land just this year. I still remember as a kid watching Disney's movie Bambi with the frightening forest fire threatening the lives of all the forest animals, the soundtrack added to the terror of the scenes. The fire itself seemed like a living creature hellbent on destroying everything in its' path! Who else remembers the old Disney classic?
