Painting - Acrylic On Stretched Canvas
Description
The foggy streets of Victorian London are crowded with horse drawn carriages and pedestrians as a world famous detective observes from the shadows. Over the shouts of newsboys, clip clop of horses, and the rattle of carriage wheels through the puddles, you can hear Sherlock Holmes call out, “Watson, The game is afoot!”
I have been a fan of the Sherlock Holmes adventures since I was a young man. I still have the complete collection of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s fictional detective in my library and on my Kindle as well. This painting is my tribute to the much loved character. I intentionally used a very limited palette of grays and yellow ochre to suggest the look of old photographs and to enhance the foggy, dismal conditions of the city in those days.
