My big brother Jim and his wife Lin owned this island in northern Wisconsin for decades. They generously shared this magical place with friends and family. Our family vacations to the island created memories from our younger days that formed the backdrop to our lives. The main lodge with a gigantic stone fireplace, had a quote painted across the mantle, “The ornament of a house is the friends that frequent it” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson. I have the same quote on the wall next to my bar and on my mantle in our sun room as a tribute to my brother and his family's island. I painted this for my own private collection but wanted to make the image available to everyone that shared a love for this unique and special place.
