Description
My painting is a tribute to locomotive #1003, Wisconsins 100 year old treasure. Built in 1913, this old train keeps on rolling down the tracks. Originally retired in 1954, it has been restored and put back in operation several times since the 70s and finally its final journey was announced on November 13, 2010. But shortly afterwards, the Steam Locomotive Heritage Association raised funds to have the engine overhauled and certified for another 15 years of operation. Locomotive #1003 returned to service in September of 2012.
I have been fortunate enough to see this train on more than one occasion. It rolled right past my old house and home studio in Eagle, Wisconsin and I photographed it and then sometime later I was able to examine it up close at the Wisconsin Automotive Museum in Hartford. Its a grand old steam engine with a grand history, and Im hoping we will see it again soon on one of its Whistle Stop with Santa runs.

Art is unquestionably one of the purest and highest elements in human happiness. It trains the mind through the eye, and the eye through the mind. As the sun colours flowers, so does art colour life. ― John Lubbock CONGRATULATIONS ON SALE!
