Description
Chicago River Gold
Glittering lights are reflected and sparkle along Chicago’s Riverwalk. Something you may not know, the river was actually engineered to flow backwards. Originally the river flowed eastward and emptied into lake Michigan, but a 28-mile canal was built between the Chicago river and the rivers that drain into the Mississippi. In 1999 the American Society of Civil Engineers called the Chicago River system a “Civil Engineering Monument of the Millenium.”
